Fort Adams State Park

80 Fort Adams Drive, Newport, RI 02840

Ticket Information

The Newport Beer Festival, Proudly Sponsored by Oyster Harbors Marine, will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 1:00-4:30 p.m. at historic Fort Adams State Park in Newport, RI.

New England Open Markets was the first weekly outdoor market in the Northeast focused exclusively on handmade goods — and we’ve been going strong ever since. We curate a unique market experience bringing together independent makers, artists, vintage dealers & local food in some of the most iconic locations across New England.

Beyond the markets themselves, we believe in the power of placemaking — activating public spaces, driving foot traffic to local neighborhoods, and boosting the local economy one Saturday at a time.

We’re proud to have served as an incubator for hundreds of microbusinesses, giving makers a venue to grow their audience, build their brand, and thrive.

Operation Stand Down RI - Boots on the Ground - Memorial Day Weekend May 22-25th

Boots on the Ground photo

The hours are as follows:

Friday, May 22nd: 9AM – 7PM

Saturday, May 23rd: 9AM – 7PM

Sunday, May 24th: 9AM – 7PM

Monday, May 25th: 9AM – 6PM (Memorial Day)

Admission is free for all attendees.

In 2016, Operation Stand Down RI launched the Boots on the Ground for Heroes Memorial which now displays over 7,000 combat boots adorned with flags and placards. Each boot represents a U.S. service member killed in action post 9-11 in the Global War on Terror.

The placard attached to each boot displays the name and photo of the fallen along with biographical information, military branch, rank and circumstances of death. The Memorial is updated yearly to incorporate additional U.S. service members killed in the ongoing Global War on Terror.

The boots, each adorned with a name placard and flag are organized alphabetically and by state and U.S. territories. This layout enables individuals with a personal connection to easily find a specific fallen hero’s boot. Often, family, friends, and comrades can be seen quietly paying their respects, sometimes leaving mementos. Since its inception, thousands of visitors from across the U.S. have attended the Boots on the Ground for Heroes display, held on Memorial Day Weekend and other times throughout the year.

The Rhode Island Cup – Saturday, April 11th, 2026 – On The Parade Field of Fort Adams

For over 25 years, in-state rivals Newport Rugby Football Club and Providence Rugby Football Club have squared off on the rugby pitch, with the winner claiming rights to the Rhode Island Cup.  This annual rugby match is always a fierce contest between Rhode Island’s two top-level men’s rugby programs, with bragging rights to “best rugby team in Rhode Island” on the line.  Newport RFC has claimed the RI Cup for the last six contests, and on April 6th they will not only be looking to “Defend the Fort”, but to also “Defend the Cup”.  A resurging Providence RFC team, tied for first place in this year’s league play, will surely be looking to upset the home team and take the Cup with them back to Providence.

A full day of rugby will kick-off at 10am with youth 7 a-side rugby matches, hosted by Island Rugby, the local Newport County Youth Rugby Football Club team.  At 12:00pm, the Rhode Island Collegiate All Star match will kick-off with Providence College vs. Roger Williams.

The main event will begin at 2:00pm, as bagpipes and a color guard march the Providence and Newport Clubs in to the Fort to prepare for the Rhode Island Cup kick-off.

The event is sponsored by the Fort Adams Trust and the Rhode Island National Guard.  Admission is free to spectators and participants, donations at the gate are encouraged to support the restoration efforts of the Fort Adams Trust.  Concessions will be available in the Fort for attendees.
